Building the Community

‘Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.’ Psalms 34: 5

We endeavour to Build our Community and Bridge the Gap among children who come from disadvantaged societal classes and deprived backgrounds. Our vision is to welcome these children by giving them Hope for a Future, enabling them to Unleash their Potential and Live life on Equal Terms to become front runners of change in our society.

  • Nurture the children in an environment of love, understanding, and acceptance.

  • Provide quality education with equal opportunities and standards.

  • Tutor the children with steadfast support amidst challenges and handhold them till completion of their schooling.

  • Enhance personality development in line with areas of interest and skillset.

  • Enable them to make appropriate career choices.

  • Instil values to make them responsible citizens.

  • Encourage them to be a part of the mission in continuing to Break the Cycle of Poverty.

  • Be the Gateway to Change in uplifting their community and neighbourhood.

  • Inspire them to become Game Changers of our Society.

Through the five years that we nurture these young students, our primary focus is:

  • Shaping character and imparting holistic development.

  • Ensuring that each student is physically, emotionally, and spiritually stable.

  • Enabling them to become confident individuals.

  • Encouraging them to become a change in their society.

Our desire is to bring about transformation and make the years spent at RSL the best years of their lives.

Helping the Community

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”

We began with conducting free tuition for approximately 100 students from the underprivileged community in and around the Cox Town area. We soon noticed that despite being a part of Government Aided Schools, they were unable to read and write English.

This injustice to the students and their parents led to ‘Radiant School of Learning’ being established under the aegis of Reach Trust in the year 2003. We began coaching children from the age of 12 under the National Open School Syllabus (NIOS). This allowed them to appear for their Secondary and Senior Secondary exams as they were prepared, giving them the opportunity to learn English from the basics.

The students also lacked fundamental values of life, leading us to invest beyond their education and in their personal lives. By conducting Value Education classes, we supported them in character building.

We also noticed that malnourishment caused many of them to be distracted, fall asleep or even collapse during class. This motivated us to provide each student with a healthy mid-day meal and till date, this is the only meal for many of the students.
